Senior Optical Engineer

 

Responsibilities

The Senior Optical Engineer will be responsible for further optical design for our three dimensional (3D) intra-oral scanning device. The work will be preformed in a dynamic cross-functional team environment. The focus will mainly be on optical design of compact fiber-based and free-space interferometer systems and CCD-based imaging systems using simulation and optical ray tracing tools. This individual will be responsible for optical component specification, laboratory characterization and assembly of optical elements. The position also involves close interaction with vendors, as well as material specifications and quality controls.

 

Requirements

- Ph.D. degree in relevant discipline with at least 5 years of industry experience or MS degree in relevant discipline with at least 8 years of industry experience.
- Solid theoretical understanding in classic and modern optics as well as fiber optics.
- Proficient in Zemax, R-Soft, and Matlab with significant experience in building and verifying simulation models to direct product design and reconfiguration.
- Prior successful development of one or more products in the areas of optical and light source systems and sub-systems with experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Practical experience in managing design trade-offs among performance, tolerance and error budget as well as working with suppliers to define and optimize specifications.
- Hands-on experience in establishing optical setup and characterizing optical components and subsystems.
- Has to be a quick learner and team player.

 

Preferences

Familiarity with SolidWorks and MathCAD is a plus.
