NeoMetrix Technologies and DPI Announce AFI 5000 Partnership

WILMINGTON, MA, JULY 31, 2007. NeoMetrix Technologies, a leading metrology sales and service organization in the Southeastern US, and Dimensional Photonics International, Inc. (DPI), a leading producer of high performance digital shape scanners, have formed a sales & support partnership around DPI’s AFI 5000 product line. Florida-based NeoMetrix was established in 2003 by Dan Perreault, an expert in digital shape scanning who has been active in the industry for more than a decade. Dan Perreault has worked on projects for leading industrial manufacturing and engineering firms, including companies in the aerospace, automotive and power generation industries. According to Dan Perreault, “The AFI 5000 will add a high-end scanner to our line of products available to solve customer problems. Now, we can provide high-quality, high-accuracy data that is second to none.” “DPI is very pleased to have a distribution partner with NeoMetrix’s background in the shape scanning industry,” says Olaf N. Krohg, Chairman and CEO of DPI. “We look forward to a close, long-term relationship and are particularly interested in pursuing uncharted opportunities based on our AFI 5000 family of products.”

According to Dan Perreault, “DPI digital shape scanning systems give new freedoms that are not available in the high-end, including the ability to scan most machined parts without the use of powder spray and to scan in most industrial lighting environments. NeoMetrix is looking forward to apply these capabilities in applications where non-contact scanning was not possible in the past.” DPI shape scanners are based on a proprietary technology called Accordion Fringe Interferometry (AFI) developed at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). AFI-based scanners create digital models (CAD) of physical objects by immersing the object in patterns of light, then recording the way the patterns reflect off of the object’s surface and applying complex, proprietary algorithms to create accurate 3D shapes
